School has begun...

Ok all, so yes, it has been a while since I have blogged...which is pretty normal for me. Well my third semester has begun, which means only one more after this. I get to go to the ER, Cardiac Unit, ICU, and Same Day Surgery this semester. I'm pretty excited for all of them and I start clinicals tomorrow. I even have begun practicing IV's....it was a little nerve racking at first, but now not so bad

And here it is....my first IV.....Thanks Katie....I had to stick her 3 times to finally get it in right....we are each others pin cushions. I have practiced other times, and even on a fellow co-worker which has made for great practice. I'm excited to get a little better at it that's for sure. We are 2 1/2 weeks into the semester and I'm allready counting down the days....is that bad????

Well, I have a couple of pictures to put up from my last California trip, which was sooooo great. One day we spent the whole day at the beach in Santa Cruz, we even ate the best clam chowder there and I got a couple new shirts. We also went to a Dodgers/Giants game which was super fun....Dodgers won....but the ballpark was sooo cool, it's right on the bay and we were front row, center field....LOVED IT!!!

This place was so cool actually, before we went to the game we went over to Fort Point which is right under the golden gate bridge and it's just an old fort right on the bay....it was so windy I thought we were gonna get blown right off the walls.
We are just little specks but i think it's so cool us right uner the golden gate bridge. It was so cold and foggy this day to you couldn't even see the bridge unless you were right under it like we are here.

Here are Daryl and I on the third floor of the fort looking out over the bay...the bridge is kinda in the way though!=-)

This is looking from Fort Point to the citty, you can kinda tell how foggy it was, but the air was so wet it was crazy.

Here we are at AT&T park watching the giants lose to the Dodgers, it was such a cool game, I loved it so much.

Here is Jimmy Chung in his Giants hat, and Daryl in his Dodgers hat....there was a bit of a heat rivalry here between friends...but it was all in fun....even when i had peanuts and sunflowers seeds thrown at me because I was wearing a Dodgers hat....crazy baseball fans....and boy do they get drunk!!!

I just had to put this picture up because Daryl's face is my favorite here....this is after we had spent all day just laying on the beach on the most perfect day.

And here I am on the Pier at Santa Cruz eating some of the yummiest clam chowder I have ever eaten in my life.....so good....now I want some!!!

Well, that's about it for now. I do have to say that Daryl bought me tickets to go to Wicked in San Francisco this weekend and I am more than excited....WOOHOO!!! we are probably going to go to another Dodgers/Giants game again too....yes I know, I am a little spoiled, but that is OK!!! Well, hopefully I'll have fun things to blog about soon.....

Death by Bike

So my mom bought herself this nice new bike and I've been meaning to get mine fixed so I could ride it. I've been really wanting to get outside and run or ride to get back into shape. So this morning I woke up and thought I would go and take a nice bike ride. It wasn't too hot outside, actually compared to St. George it was really nice, so I thought it wouldn't be so bad. As I started out I was fine, but into it about 30 minutes I felt a little fuzzy headed and thought I should head back home, something isn't right. FYI, my house is at the the foot of the mountain, so to get back to my house you must go up hill. Since I wasn't feeling very good I decided to walk it back part way up the hill. I jumped off the bike and started walking it. All of a sudden I got super dizzy and nausea and almost fell over, luckily, there was some grass so I sat, partly falling onto the grass, while still holding the bike. Pretty sure people passing by thought I was drunk. I had to lay down to stop my head from spinning and keeping from throwing up. Then I thought for a minute, when was the last time I had a drink of water, and I came to realize it had been more than a day and a half. I know, who goes that long without drinking water, i never thought it but I do I guess. I came to realize that I was so super dehydrated. Lucky me, I had no cell phone or anything. So I decided to walk the bike the rest of the way and I should be fine. Not so much. I would walk for a couple minutes and the spinning and dizziness, and nausea would come back so I would have to sit down again, and a couple times I fell cause I lost my balance from being so weak. I did this many times before finally making it home. I even had to sit in a huge thing of weeds. Luckily when I got home and got into the kitchen my dad was home so I collapsed on the kitchen floor because I didn't even have the energy to stay standing long enough to get water. He got me a powerade and I sat up and started guzzling it down. Now I'm sitting at my computer writing about it because I still don't have enough energy to stay standing long enough to shower. Sorry, no pictures of this exciting adventure. Two lessons, always take your cell phone so you don't die on the side of the road and two ALWAYS drink a lot of water....still not sure what I was thinking! I'm still amazed I didn't pass out, I was so close I felt like I was about to, but never did, probably because the whole time I was praying to Heavenly Father to just let me make it home safe, and luckily he did thank goodness. So none of you guys have to come to my funeral yet, maybe the next bike ride though! =-)

Reflection....And a little update

So I must begin with these pictures from last summer. This is me and my fam with my dear great grandma witt. She past away last week and today was her funeral down in Venice Utah. After today I felt so privileged to be a part of this wonderful womans life. She was 99 years old and one of the most kind and loving people I have ever known and if I can be half the person she was I will be happy. At the end of the funeral service one of my uncles got up and said something about her that I had completely forgotten.....whenever you would go to see her the first words out of her mouth were...."Oh Happy Day!" She was always so excited to see you, and you knew that she loved and and that was the most incredible feeling. She always made you feel that way no matter what. She lived such an incredible life and was one of the most incredible women I have ever known, I hope that one day I can life up to the example my grandmother set for me. I spent many summers with her helping her cut quilt blocks and watching seven brides for seven brothers. I wish I could have spent more time with her, but she is in such a happy and peaceful place with her dear companion, my grandpa witt.

I promise I'm not trying to start this blog off all sad and stuff, she truly is in such a better place and I only miss her now for purely selfish reasons. I was talking to Daryl the other night and I was talking about how you miss things about people once they are gone. I thought to myself how we take so much advantage of what we have here in this life and don't realize it until they are gone. We take advantage of so many things around us it is so sad. I have so many happy memories with my grandma witt along with so many other people that I no longer see and others that have passed on. I am going to try so hard to appreciate and love people, just as my grandma witt did, because I'm almost positive that she never took people for granted, and she savored every minute with every person and made everyone she was around feel so loved, special, and cared about.

I also was able to see some wonderful family members and get some good pictures of people that I really do miss. I want to start with one of the best pictures taken....me and my sister... Yes, that is me trying to lick Jeneeces face, and not succeeding, and I have no words for Jeneeces face whatsoever, but it is classic!

Blakey, Me, Moog, and Marci.....my wonderful cousins that I haven't seen forever!

I was using the pillow to cover up, but they said I had to get rid of it, I was a little upset....

Me clutching on close to the pillow....fyi, the pillow really has no significance besides the fact they made me put it down....=-( and I just realized....i'm not sure what is going on with moog's face, we were really struggling taking pic's.....

Me and my cute little niece, Kiya Leanne, my namesake, but you can't see her super cute curls on her head in this picture.

Me, Mommy, and sissy at the luncheon
Moog, Aunt Launi, with antlers (which is why I put this pic up, we laughed so hard at it), and obviously me!
Moog, Marci, and Me....we are only missing shanna!
Blakey, Lindsey(his wife), Jaye, and me!
Us on the couch yet again, but we brought in Jeneece cause we love her!!!

So to update you on my summer, there isn't too much. I ended my last semester with a 3.88 GPA and was so excited, especially since I only have two more semesters left, thank goodness. I have had the summer off from school and have just been working. Daryl was in St. George since may up until the 4th of July due to his dad passing on the 3rd of May. It was a beautiful funeral and Daryl stayed around and helped his mom out and then we spent the week of the 4th out in california, but I didn't take any pictures....my bad. We did celebrate Daryls birthday while he was there, and he is gonna be so super excited about me putting this picture up, but hopefully he will forgive me....

Oh so cute....we celebrated my birthday also, but no pics of that, but we drove up to Orem and spent a couple of days with my fam which was nice. Other than that, the whole summer has been chilling and working, nothing else really....well that I can think of at the moment. I came up Thursday this last week though and was able to go to lunch with my girlfriends sarah and kels.....sorry sarah we took this pic at kels house....i will get one with you....but here is my cute kels.....

I just want to note that my hair is getting long....yea for me, I'm trying to grow it out again after I chopped it off the end of last year....us girls can never decide how we want it...oh well!

Well, I'm so proud of myself for getting on to update finally, it's been way to long, part of the problem is that I don't have internet and that makes it a little tough. So this entry is full of so many people I love, but is also missing so many others that I love.

I just want to end this post letting you all know how much I'm loving St. George right now....this was printed on my blog on a post back in September, but I felt it really gets the point across....

Subject: Moving to St. George...?May 30th: Just moved to St. George. Now this is a town that knows how to live!! Beautiful sunny days and warm balmy evenings. What a place! It is beautiful. I've finally found my home. I love it here.June 14th: Really heating up. Got to 100 today. Not a problem. Live in an air-conditioned home, drive an air-conditioned car. What a pleasure to see the sun everyday like this. I'm turning into a sun worshiper.June 30th: Had the backyard landscaped with western plants today. Lots of cactus and rocks. What a breeze to maintain. No more mowing the lawn for me. Another scorcher today, but I love it here.July 10th: The temperature hasn't been below 100 all week. How do people get used to this kind of heat? At least it's kind of windy though. However, getting used to the heat is taking longer than I expected.July 15th: Fell asleep by the community pool. (Got 3rd degree burns over 60% of my body). What a dumb thing to do. I learned my lesson though. Got to respect the ol' sun in a climate like this.July 20th: I missed Lomita (my cat) sneaking into the car when I left this morning. By the time I got to the hot car at noon, Lomita had died and swollen up to the size of a shopping bag and stank up the upholstery. The car now smells like baked cat. I learned my lesson though. No more pets in this heat.July 25th: The wind sucks. It feels like a giant freaking blow dryer!! And it's hot as hell. The home air-conditioner is on the fritz and the AC repairman charged $200 just to drive by and tell me he needed to order parts. I'm gonna kill the next guy that says; but it's a dry heat! Yeah, so's a freakin' oven!July 30th: Been sleeping outside on the patio for 3 nights now. $425,000 house and I can't even go inside. Why did I ever come here?Aug. 4th: It's 115 degrees. Finally got the air-conditioner fixed today. It cost $500 and gets the temperature all the way down to 85. I hate this stupid town.Aug. 8th: If another wise person cracks, 'Hot enough for you today?'I'm going to strangle him. Damn heat. By the time I get to work the radiator is boiling over, my clothes are soaking wet, and I smell like baked cat!!Aug. 9th: Tried to run some errands after work. Wore shorts, and when I sat on the seats in the car, I thought my butt was on fire. I lost 2 layers of flesh and all the hair on the back of my legs. Now my car smells like burnt hair and baked cat.Aug 10th:The weather report might as well be a darn recording. Hot and sunny Hot and sunny. Hot and sunny. It's been too hot to do much for 2 months and the weatherman says it might really warm up next week. Doesn't it ever rain in this damn desert? Water rationing will be next, so my $1700 worth of cactus will just dry up and blow over. Even the cactus can't live in this heat.Aug. 14th: Welcome to HELL! Temperature got to 115 today. Forgot to crack the window and blew the windshield out of the car. The installer came to fix it and said, Hot enough for you today? My sister had to spend $1500 to bail me out!

And that my friends is St. George.....oh do I love it....and just for the record my car AC is on the fritz, not a good thing! Well, I better post my super long blog and hope some people out there really read it, hope to get internet and update soon!!!!

PS Joyce, this one goes out to you!!!!

Time flies by....

Well hello out there blogger world, I have not written in a long time, and I don't have a ton to update on, but I do have a few pictures just for fun. So it's been almost 2 months and I have had so much school work to do since then that time to blog has not even been a thought, until now....only one more pharmacology test to go and then the summer will truly be here for me. I've done good this semester but it has been so hectic and crazy I felt like I was a chicken with my head cut off, it was crazy...but inbetween the madness I was able to do a couple fun things....like go home and finally see my family for a weekend!

So first of all, an announcement, yes I am pregnant.......NOT!
Turns out my sister is but she wouldn't take any pregnant pictures with me unless I made myself look pregnant, so underneath that jacket is a folded up baby blanket my friends....no baby, sorry to disappoint you all! Isn't my sister sucha cute pregant lady, she's bigger now, this was back in March, she's about to pop!

I love this picture, my little 18 month nephew just chills when the TV is on, so this his him beginning his many years of "being a man" and watch the boob tube, he was soo mesmorize by it it was hilarious.

Me and my little nephew trevin chillin on a Sunday afternoon!

This is one of my favorite pictures....so my mom and dad have the wii fit, so my little 18 month old nephew garrin wants to be a part of it when everyone else is doing it so we pull out a little white scale to put it next to the wii balance board and he joins right in with his papa, it's so freakin cute, I love it!!!
Next, I finally made it to Zions....turns out I have lived in Utah my whole life and never gone to Zions. So Daryl, who is from Cali, came out and he took me there for my first time, it was soooo beautiful!

We hiked Angels landing, which no children should ever hike because I made it up part of the way, but the last half mile you have to hang onto a chain because it's so narrow or you will plummet to your death, so Daryl had to hold my hand the whole way up and down because I have a little issue with heights......

But at the top, the view was worht it and boy was it amazing.....pictures don't do it justice!

This is almost to the top, but not quite there, you can't see it on my face here but I was freaking out about being so close to the edge and it's a long ways down!

Isn't it just so beautiful!!! I love it!

This was one of our beginning views at the first part of our hike......It was a hard hike, lots of switchbacks, but it was soooo pretty....it was really, really windy at the top, I thought I was going to get blown off....I kept telling Daryl to tell my family that I love them if I don't make it....but obviously here I am....still alive!

Another adventure I had was driving to Cali with Daryl....he needed some company for the long drive back to San Jose and I wanted to see the Kreys (a senior couple from my mission) who live an hour outside San Jose....So I took advantage and went out. I was only there for 2 days.....but it was so good to see them....They are the sweetest people in the world, salt of the earth kinda people....

This is me with the huge would carving of Oscie, the Cal state mascot....he's carved out of a huge piece of redwood I think and sits right on their front porch....I was a big fan!
Brother Krey is a dentist and was on the school board out there in Brentwood for years so they named a elementary school after him....isn't that the coolest!!!

And here I am with Brother and Sister Krey, aren't they so cute. We went over to Brother Krey's dental office to each lunch with him....don't they just look so amazing...they are some of my favorite people ever!!!
So lets see, what else is there to report....I have one final left and then I will just be working full time at the hospital over the summer. I was planning on taking my LPN but with the economy no one is really hiring LPN's and you have to work at your highest license so I would lose my job as a CNA at the hospital....so I opted not to take it. Though, I did take the predictor test and it said I had a 98% chance of passing which made me feel good, like I'm learning some things. Today before I came to work we had our LPN graduation party which was a nice little BBQ to celebrate the end of the semester....thank heavens, I thought this semester would never end. So now that I don't have so much school to worry over, maybe I will be able to blog more....YEA!!! Hopefully I will start taking more pictures too! Well, that's about it for now....I'm signing off, but will hopefully be keeping more updated now!!!

Ode to Spring

So, there are so many wonderful things about the spring. The warm weather, the cheerful mood, the birds chirping, the flowers blooming, etc.... especially in St. George when spring starts in February, I LOVE THAT! I just need to note that all of these things are wonderful, and grand....but the one thing that brings great joy to me as this time of year rolls around are MINI CADBURY EGGS!!
These little bundles of joy make me so happy, yet so angry that we only get to enjoy them for a couple of months out of the year. I was able to endulge in these wonderful tasting treats last night and pretty much put myself into a diabetic coma because you just can't stop popping them into your mouth. That hard candy shell, and delicious inner chocolate just melts in your mouth and you continue to eat more and more until you feel ill (just a side note, last night I was not the only one doing this, but found out that 2 other people, that I wasn't even with at the time were enjoying the same feeling of putting themselves into a diabetic coma due to the goodness of these little eggs). Today during class I was able to yet again enjoy that feeling of making myself sick because I love them so much. Maybe this is why they only come around once a year, because if not we would all be hospitalized year round. So enjoy these little treasures while you can, because come Easter they will be gone again for another year. I think I should buy them in bulk and sell them throughout the year to make a little side cash. ENJOY!!!

Fun at the beach!

So ya know those moments when your blog gives you such great joy, well right now at 4:30 in the morning while I'm sitting here at work, trying my darndest to stay awake, I have just felt that. I added a great picture of me at the beach in Santa Cruz on my title and changed my background to "having fun at the beach," which turns out is my dream in life. Everytime I go to California I never want to come back. I need the beach in my life, it brings me great joy. So as I searched for a background when I saw that one I thought, PERFECT, because that is all I want for the rest of my life. I know, random blog, but sometimes ya just have to ramble, that's all!

This last week has been good, but busy as usual. I've been at work all weekend, and will continue to be at work until Monday, which as we all know is exciting! I have tests to study for and presentations to do, oh and papers to write, so yea, my normal exciting life. I did get a new roommate that will be moving in tomorrow. Also, just a little comment for all of those in the cold weather, it was in the 70's today, and this next week is supposed to be super nice, spring has come for St. George and boy is it nice. Bring on the pool!! Spring break is in 2 weeks and I can't stand it, I'm so excited I feel like a kid at Christmas. Well, that's about all I have to say for now, I will try to keep any fun or random thoughts flowing out on my blog so I don't hear people tell me over and over again, "you need to update your blog."

Where have the past 2 months gone....

So I haven't posted forever....so I'm sitting here at work and so excited to finally be doing it for once. The past 2 months have flown by. All I do is study, I'm not gonna lie. This semester has kept me on my toes. We have 2-3 tests a week and clinicals that keep us nice and busy. I'm normally a pretty organized person, but these days my brain feels extremely scattered from all that I have to get done. So instead of boring you with all of my school fun i'll load some pictures from a couple trips I made to vegas and some time with friends. Beginning of the year my friend Carie came down and we decided to hit vegas for some shopping and a little fun for the day.

So here is our amazing bed, that I will explain a little story about it later, but it was at mandalay bay and the room was awesome!
Carie and I in the hotel lobby!

Trying to take our own picture in the lobby!

Driving to vegas in Mahonna the honda! (that is Carie's car's name)

This is a great picture that Carie so kindly took while I was filling gas. That is my big ol' booty! According to my dear friend Kristin at work she quoted "my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard"

This is when we were going to Ceasars Palace and I found a hottie to take a pic with!

Outside Cheesecake Factory waiting to get some yummy yummy food!

My vanilla bean cheesecake that I now crave everyday of my life, thanks to Daryl.

Getting ready to eat my cheesecake.....and I was kind enough to share it with Carie....I know, I'm nice

This is my other love and what I crave to eat everyday of my life....AVOCADO EGGROLLS! They are my passion and everyone should eat them!! Now i'm hungry! Our room was way cool, but I'm going to move on to pictures of my next Vegas adventure. It was in the middle of the semester when I needed a break from all the studying. Brit, Linds, and I headed down, found a super cheap hotel, shopped and ate at Cheesecake Factory, because, let's be honest, for me it is a must to eat there whenever possible. It turns that all there is to do in St. George is make Vegas trips....ya know, sin city baby! The morning after heading back, doesn't it look like I had a super late night in vegas....like our matching jackets....

All of us at breakfast after a long night of walking, shopping, and eating....don't worry, the best 10 bucks in the world was spent when we decided to take the taxi back to the hotel because our feet were gonna fall off.

You can see linds taking the pic!

Bath and body works had 3 dollar items....and boy do they make good gifts......

More cheesecake for us to share......oh yums.....so good!!!

random fountain at the miracle mile shops in planet hollywood.

Us chillin on the strip and everyone and there dog had "big boy drinks" aka, huge freakin cups of alcohol.....gotta love vegas....pretty sure we were the only sober ones!

Brit and I just lookin' cute!

Here's to vegas baby!!! Who needs alcohol when you got straight H2o!!! On the rocks please. We had a lot of fun and laughed a lot. Some random guy that night that walked by us told me how much he liked my hips and kept getting me to shake them, oh the people we meet!!!

Aren't we all so cute getting ready for a night on the town!

This is one of our sweet beds in our hotel room!
Sorry random pic from my last cali trip, I have a few others but for now this is all that is making it on the blog, me at the palace of fine arts after being lost for an hour (and then soon after that another couple hours of being lost in San Fran)
Me and dylan.....so cute, I stole his hat and wouldn't give it back until he took a pic with me! He's gonna be such a heart breaker!!!

Me and my St. George Family, Linds, Derek, ella, and dylan!

Me and kels when she came down with her cute little family for the weekend!

Kels, Inara, and me at the bowling alley with her cute fam and my cute st. george fam! We bowled and had a good ol time! I love when friends come to visit!
Ok, so these are really the only adventures I've had in the last 2 months. I did take another trip to cali, but will have to write about it later. I'm at work, so I need to do some patient care. If any of you are ever patients in the hospital please don't pee on the floor, the nurses don't really appreciate it and it makes for a long night when all your patients are doing it. Well, all is good with work and school, just busier than busy, but chugging along just doing my thing. I will really try to blog more.....Love ya all!!!!
